Norfolk, Va. – A father and son have been arrested and are facing felony charges after scamming an elderly couple in Norfolk.

The two men, 44-year-old John Arthur Wilson, and his son 21-year-old John Arthur Wilson Jr., operate a company called "Wilson House Doctor’s Home Improvement Company."

Between April 13 and June 18, the two fraudulently and by false pretense obtained over $23,000 from an 85-year-old woman and 92-year-old man according to officials. They claimed that they were performing home improvements on the Norview couple’s home.

The two men have been arrested for obtaining money by false pretense and fraud. Other charges are pending as the investigation continues.

"A lot of money. our savings, our retirement. I can't say exactly how it will leave us, but I'm happy they got them," says Patsy, one of the victims. She hired the two to remodel their garage back in April. She says the son kept asking for money for building materials until she lost track of how much she was giving them while the job was not being done.

"He never did anything right.  He put in everything wrong, even down to the windows," says Patsy.

She says eventually, the two stopped showing up and left a mess of materials and unfinished garage.

"I just wish them all the luck and wish they could pay me my money back and plus, pay the people that is working who had to tear down everything they built," says Patsy.

Both men have bonded out and are due back in court next week.

Norfolk detectives are asking anyone who may have been a victim of the Wilson House Doctor’s Home Improvement Company to contact the Economic Crimes Division at (757) 664-7018.
