Newport News, Va. – Hundreds of customers were without power after transformers blew up in a Newport News neighborhood.

Dominion Virginia Power was on the scene on 30th and Washington to Hunington.

Eight poles fell but officials have not confirmed what caused the poles to fall.

They say over 750 customers were without service. All but 21 customers have been restored.

Officials say the damage included broken poles, 12 broken cross arms and multiple spans of wire and transformers on the ground.

The last few customers will have to wait until the repairs are completed before power is restored.

The estimated time of restoration is unknown at this time.
