Norfolk, Va. – The American Red Cross of Coastal Virginia will host its “100 Days of Summer. 100 Days of Hope.” event at MacArthur Center on Friday, July 10. The event encourages community members to donate blood.
Travel plans, vacation time, and busy schedules in the summer months cause blood donations to decrease significantly. The Red Cross must collect 15,000 blood donations each day of the year. They see an average of two fewer donors at each summer blood drive. Citizens of Hampton Roads can make a difference by giving blood and hope to those who need it.
Those who are interested in donating blood can sign up at http://www.redcrossblood.org/rcbmobile/drive/chooseDonationTime.jsp. Walk-ins are also welcome. The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
