Man accused of abducting, assaulting wife during altercation in Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – A North Carolina man has been charged following a heated altercation with his wife.

Police say Andrew James Anderson, 32, was arguing with his wife and things became physical.

During the fight, police say the woman tried to get away but he restrained her and took her cell phone when she tried to call for help.

She was able to get away to call police.

She was treated on the scene and was then taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Anderson was charged with abduction and kidnapping, strangle another causing wounding, assault and battery of family member and unlawful use of injury to telephone lines.

He is now in police custody.
