UPDATE: A spokesman for Dominion Virginia Power says all power along the Oceanfront has been restored. They say it was caused by equipment failure.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – About 130 customers are without power along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, including hotels and businesses.

A spokesman for Dominion Virginia Power says the outage goes from 5th to 6th street on Pacific Avenue and 5th to 7th street on Atlantic Avenue.

Earlier this evening about 400 customers were without power, and the outage extended from the Rudy Inlet to 16th street, but crews were able to manually switch some customers to a different circuit.

There is no cause at this time or estimate as to when the power will go back on, but extra crews have been called in to patrol the area for the source of the problem.

Dominion Virginia Power says they are investigating ways to reroute the electricity to get the power back on for most customers.
