Newport News, Va. - Detectives are asking for assistance in identifying suspects in four commercial burglaries at Goode's Automotive on the same day.
Newport News Police say the suspects broke into Goode's Automotive on 2000 25th street, back on July 19th at approximately 3:30 a.m. They say the suspects removed several sets of keys. Police say they returned three times between the hours of 6:10 and 6:40 to take three different cars.
Police say the 2007 BMW, the 2002 Cadillac, and the 2002 Mazda, each broke down while the suspects were driving them, and they were later recovered. They believe at least four suspects were involved.
Employees at the car repair shop believe the suspects have been watching them for a while. Video surveillance released by police shows two different suspects walking by the business.
"Further review of the tapes show that they were actually scoping out the business to figure out what cars they wanted, what cars to steal, what cars were easiest to get out," says Chad Goode, lead technician at Goode's Automotive. "It was quite shocking to know someone would just break onto your property like that."
Anyone with information on the identity of these suspects or any information about this case is asked to call Newport News Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
