Chesapeake, Va. – A firefighter had to be taken to the hospital after a fire broke out inside of a Chesapeake waste management company.

The fire occurred in the 400 block of Dominion Boulevard North.

Fire crews were called out to Clearfield MMG about a fire inside of the building.

They arrived minutes later and found a mulch product burning inside.

They were able to get the fire under control a little after noon.

Officials say the fire was caused by an excessive amount of lime that was introduced into the solidification process. The mulch is used to solidify liquid waste.
