Chesapeake man arrested on animal abuse, drug charges

Chesapeake, Va. - A Chesapeake man has been charged with animal cruelty, as well as several other animal and drug-related charges.

Tyrell Gandy has been charged with animal cruelty to a young Pit Bull mix for incidents that occurred on July 14th and July 16th. He has also been charged for providing inadequate water to three dogs, and having no rabies tags or city licenses for three dogs.

All three dogs were removed from Gandy's property and are now being held at Chesapeake Animal Services.

Gandy was additionally charged with possession with intent to distribute prescription drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and obstruction of justice.
