Tuesday’s VIPIR Forecast: Cold front moves through

Tracking a cold front… A cold front will move through today bringing in more seasonal temperatures and a chance for showers and storms. Expect partly sunny skies today with a chance for scattered showers and storms mainly this afternoon and evening. The threat for severe storms will be low today. Highs will top out in the mid 80s today, near normal.

Highs will return to the mid 80s for the rest of the work week with more sunshine and lower rain chances.

Tropical Update

Tropical Storm Erika shows little change in strength. Sustained winds remain near 45 mph but some slow strengthening is possible over the next few days. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 80 miles from the center. Erika is located about 730 miles east of the Leeward Islands and moving west at 20 mph. The general west to WNW movement will continue for the next few days. Erika will approach the Leeward Islands Wednesday night and early Thursday. Erika will likely impact the Bahamas as a hurricane this weekend.
