Man tased, arrested after waving knife on 24th Street stage

Virginia Beach, Va. – A man who climbed onto the 24th street stage and ran around waving a knife was tased and arrested Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to calls about the man around 3pm and found Jason Louis Braunstein running back and forth on the stage and holding a black knife.

Braunstein was making irrational statements and he was ordered several times by the officer to drop his knife.  When he would not do so, the responding officer tasered Braunstien and took him into custody.

Neither Braunstein nor  the responding officer were injured.

Braunstein was charged with trespassing and two counts of disturbing the peace and currently remains at the city jail.

Chief James Cervera said he was proud of the officer who showed great restraint during the incident.
