Norfolk, Va. - Norfolk Police are learning more about how a teenage boy was shot at the intersection of Galt and Barre Street Sunday night.

According to police, the teen was armed with a gun. They say he approached the car and demanded money from the Chanello's Pizza delivery driver. However, the driver was armed with their own weapon, and shot the teen.

The teen was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life threatening injuries. He remains at the hospital, under police watch. He is expected to recover from his injuries. Police have charged the teen with one count of robbery and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Police have not identified the driver and have not said whether or not they are a man or a woman. On Monday, Chanello's would not comment on the shooting.

Neighbors who heard the gunshots on Sunday night say they are surprised to hear that it was between a 15-year-old and a delivery driver.

"You get the chills sometimes because it's usually quiet except for the train and then bam there was that," said Robert Johnson, in reference to the shooting. "It's really, really shocking."
