Newport News, Va. – A 26-year-old Hampton woman has been charged with threatening to burn down the Newport News Courthouse.
Shavar Nicole Mitchell was leaving a court proceeding for a petit larceny charge on August 27th she was overheard threatening to burn the Newport News Courthouse on Washington Avenue.
Mitchell was arrested on August 28th by Newport News Fire Marshals.
Mitchell is charged with one felony account of Threatening to Burn.
She is being held in Newport News Jail.
