Winter Harbor Haven, Va. -UPDATE: Coast Guard crews have now found the body of an 80-year-old fisherman who was reported missing over the weekend.
The man’s grandson found his body in the water near Winter Harbor, less than a quarter mile from where the boat was first discovered.
The man’s boat capsized near Winter Harbor Haven over the weekend.
Officials believe the man went into the water when the boat capsized while he was gill net fishing on Sunday.
The victim’s family says he left to go fishing on Sunday by himself at 4 p.m.
Someone discovered the man’s boat on Sunday about 200 yards off the beach east of Winter Harbor.
The Coast Guard dispatched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a 25-foot Response Boat-Small crew.
Shore crews and VMRC also searched Sunday into Monday.
An MH-Jayhawk helicopter crew flew in from Elizabeth City and a 25-foot RBS crew from station Milford Haven continued to search on Monday.
