Corolla, NC – A Suffolk man lost his life in Corolla on Monday after he drowned on the south beach.
Officials received calls at around 2:30 p.m. about a man who was pulled from the water.
Witnesses saw him go under. They say he was unconscious and CPR was performed on the man.
Crews arrived and he was pronounced dead.
He has been identified as Mark Simmons, 56, of Suffolk.
No other details have been released.
