UPDATE: All customers without power in the second outage have been restored.
Portsmouth, Va. – About 700 customers in the Churchland section of Portsmouth are still without power tonight due to an equipment failure at Dominion Power.
Dominion crews have been on the scene much of the day making repairs. More than 2400 customers were affected many are among the same customers that lost power Thursday morning when a rodent got into a substation’s equipment.
The second outage may be related to complications from the first, according to Dominion, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause.
Dominion crews will work through the night to get the lights back on for the remaining customers. The estimated time of restoration is 2 AM.
