Currituck County, N.C. – The body of an 85-year-old woman was found in a house fire in Currituck County on Tuesday.
Fire crews received the call about the house fire in the 150 block of Macedonia Church Rd. in Poplar Branch at approx. 1:50 p.m.
Deputies were requested after the occupant of the home, 85-year-old Laura Roberta Saunders, was found dead inside.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the SBI and the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office. No further will be released from the Sheriff’s Office while the SBI investigation is ongoing.
