Virginia Beach Police K9 apprehends 7-Eleven robbery suspect

Virginia Beach, Virginia - A Virginia Beach Police K9 apprehended one of two people responsible for robbing the 7-Eleven in the 4900 block of Euclid Road Wednesday morning.

Virginia Beach police increased patrols around area 7-Eleven stores after Emergency Communications received information from Norfolk Police Department personnel about a 7-Eleven robbery in Norfolk around 3:00am.

Around 4:00am, a Virginia Beach Police K9 officer saw two people wearing masks with weapons enter the 7-Eleven on Euclid Road. Additional officers were dispatched.

The two people attempted to flee the 7-Eleven on foot after the robbery. They were given verbal commands by the K9 officer and when they did not comply, the K9 was released.

The K9 apprehended one man and the other person got away, but was later caught by police.

The suspect taken into custody was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries from the K9 bite.

Police have arrested the two people in connection with the robbery.

Michael Zeigler of Smithfield is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of the use of a firearm in commission of a felony, conspiracy to commit a felony and wearing a mask in public.

Arthur Santiful of Suffolk is charged with two counts of robbery, possession of firearm by a felon, two counts of the use of firearm in commission of a felony, and conspiracy to commit a felony and wearing a mask in public.
