More moderate to major tidal flooding on Monday….As we move through our Monday, stay VIPIReady! We’re expecting even more moderate to major flooding in the area, especially around high tide, all courtesy of gusty northeast winds. High tide at Sewells Point will be at 3:44 a.m and 4:18 p.m. on Monday – a big problem during the afternoon commute from work. Turn around, don’t drown! On Tuesday, as our winds start to relax a bit, the threat for tidal flooding will begin to go down. However, just to keep this in mind, high tide on Tuesday at Sewells Point will be at 4:48 a.m. and 5:21 p.m.
As for sky conditions, expect mostly cloudy skies and a few scattered showers on Monday. While a lingering shower is possible early Tuesday, high pressure from the north will take control, allowing more sunshine to move in. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s Monday and Tuesday. Even more sun is expected through the end of the work week. Highs will be in the mid 70s.
As for Hurricane Joaquin, it remains very powerful as the center of the storm moves west of Bermuda. The storm will track northeast over the next few days, staying well away from the East Coast.

Hurricane Joaquin remains a strong storm as it impacts Bermuda. Sustained winds are near 100 mph. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 205 miles from the center. Joaquin is centered about 65 miles WNW of Bermuda and moving NNE at 14 mph. The storm will pull away from the island on Monday.
