A Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. Monday for the following areas: The cities of Franklin and Suffolk, along with Bertie, Gates, Hertford, Isle of Wight, Northampton (NC), Southampton, Surry, and Sussex Counties.

A Frost Advisory is in effect from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. Monday for the following areas: The cities of Chesapeake and Williamsburg, along with Camden, Chowan, Gloucester, James City, Middlesex, Pasquotank, Perquimans, and York Counties.

Tracking some of the coldest temps we’ve seen this season….Stay VIPIReady! We’re tracking bus stop temperatures in the 20s and 30s over the next couple of mornings! But first, as we move through this Sunday, expect mostly sunny skies. High temperatures will only rise into the mid 50s.

Tonight, under mostly clear skies, temperatures will take a big dip!  Overnight low temperatures will drop into the upper 20s and lower 30s inland, a hard freeze capable of killing crops and sensitive vegetation. We’ll see temps in the mid and upper 30s closer to the coast, which could still harm sensitive plants. That’s why Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories are posted for parts of the viewing area late tonight into Monday morning.

By Monday afternoon, highs will only climb into the mid 50s under mostly sunny skies. On Tuesday, morning temperatures will drop into the 30s again, but by afternoon, we’ll be in the mid 60s. On Wednesday and Thursday, highs will be in the 70s.

Today: Mostly Sunny. Chilly and Breezy. High temperatures in the mid 50s. Winds: NW 10-15 mph.

Tonight: Mostly Clear. Cold. Overnight low temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s inland; mid and upper 30s closer to the coast. Winds: NW 5-15 mph.

Tomorrow: Mostly Sunny. Chilly. High temperatures in the mid 50s. Winds: N 5-15 mph.
