Virginia Beach, Va. - Police are investigating after a juvenile fell off the top of a vehicle in Virginia Beach on Tuesday night. The teen was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Crews received calls at 7:51 p.m. about the incident.
Police tell NewsChannel 3 that the vehicle was in the 300 block of Osprey Street headed towards Withduck Road.
Marlon Bruce was hanging out with the teen when he was injured. He told NewsChannel 3 that the teen jumped onto the car's trunk as it was still in motion.
Bruce called 911 and the teen was rushed to the hospital.
Police say that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident, but they are still investigating.
Neighbors hope that this is a wake-up call for other teens who play near moving cars.
"They were playing around, car surfing as people like to call it. I stopped them and said, 'You know, you really shouldn`t be doing that,' but you know kids are going to be kids," said Michael Brown, a neighbor of the injured teen and a concerned father.
"Unfortunately, this is a bad lesson to learn and hopefully all the kids in the neighborhood know better this time not to do something so dangerous."
