Firefighters find body inside burning truck in Chesapeake; now being considered suicide

Chesapeake, Va. - A body was found inside a burning pickup truck in the 2500 block of Shillelagh Road near Benefit Road around midnight Wednesday, according to police. Police are now investigating this as a suicide.

A concerned citizen called 911 to report the pickup truck on fire.

"I was sitting in my room and I heard an explosion," said one woman, who wanted to remain anonymous. "I looked down the street and someone was sitting there yelling 'Get out, get out.'"

Firefighters found the body inside after the fire was extinguished.

Police have not yet confirmed the age, gender or identity of the person.

The investigation is ongoing.
