Newport News, Va. – A man is behind bars after his girlfriend told police he assaulted her, threatened her with a knife and then threatened to burn the house down.
She told police about the incident at 9 a.m. on October 22, 2015.
The 24-year-old woman says they were arguing when things turned physical.
She says the man accused, Dequan Marquette Tyree Forman, spit in her face and then punched her several times.
She says he held her down choking her and he threatened to use a knife to stop her from leaving the bedroom for an hour.
The woman also says Forman threatened to burn the house down.
She says the only way she got away is when Forman left the home to go to the store.
Forman has been charged with strangulation, threats to burn, and abduction and assault and battery 3rd offense.
