Teenager battling cancer completes bucket list by getting married

Posted

St. Louis, MO — Three years ago Emily Linneman was diagnosed with a bone cancer that took her leg, then, a couple of months ago, they found an inoperable tumor in her hip and doctors told her to start working on her bucket list.

Her bucket list included playing basketball, riding a Harley, getting a tattoo and a miniature pig. As she neared the end of her list, she realized she had completed all of the items but one, getting married.

“She said, ‘Mom, this isn’t fair. I’m not supposed to die yet, I’m supposed to get married and have kids,'” Kim, her mom, said.

Five months prior to the big day, Emily had met Jake Schroer at a bowling alley.

“He came into this knowing how sick she was, and fell in love with her anyway,” said Kim.

When Jake asked to marry her, Emily said “yes” and people came together to create the wedding of a lifetime for the two.

“All I wanted was for her to look beautiful in front of her friends and family,” said Kim. “It ended up looking like a fairytale.”

Family and friends of Emily have created a gofundme page to help pay for her medical costs.
