Norfolk, Va. – A dead loggerhead sea turtle washed up on the beach in Ocean View early Monday morning.
The turtle was found on the beach behind Greenies Bar & Grill on W. Ocean Avenue.
The Virginia Aquarium’s Stranding Response Team responded to the beach. They say the turtle washing up isn’t incredibly rare for the area, particularly after offshore storms (like Hurricane Joaquin) have churned everything up. However, they do say the size and species could make it a little more out of the ordinary.
