Godfather of Portsmouth blood gang sentenced to life in prison

Norfolk, Va.- Gang affiliate and former godfather, Christopher Smith, 32, was sentenced on October 30, 2015 to life in prison.

The former godfather of the Portsmouth-based Imperial Gangsta Bloods known as “Killa”  was sentenced for conspiring to manufacture, distribute, possess with intent to distribute over one kilogram of heroin, and for possessing a firearm.

According to court documents, from early 2014 to September 2014, Smith bought a massive amount of heroin from an Imperial Gangsta Bloods member known as Sosa. Alongside Smith, three other co-conspirators were sentenced. Howard Foust, Dwayne Banks, and Ricky Banks received sentences.

After pleading guilty earlier this year, each individual received over a ten-year sentence.

For an extended period, Smith ran drugs from New York to Hampton Roads where it was prepared for street distribution. Back in August 2014, Smith was also involved in a series of violent acts with another trafficking  organization that eventually led to a shooting.

Prior to his sentencing, Smith and three other individuals were stopped on the Eastern Shore of Virginia where they had purchased approximately 275 grams of heroin.
