Virginia Beach architecture firm’s assistant convicted of forgery

Norfolk, Va.- An employee for HBA Architecture & Interior Design Inc.  has been sentenced for forgery.

On November 6, 2015,  Katherine Albert-McNaughton of Virginia Beach was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison.

McNaughton was convicted for forging securities and participating in monetary transactions in criminally derived property.

She was also ordered to return the large sum of money.

According to court documents, McNaughton was employed by the architecture firm as their financial assistant.  For 3 years, McNaughton forged the principal of the firm’s signature on 83 company checks. She also deposited those checks into bank accounts in which she utilized for recreational purposes.

She pleaded guilty on May 12, 2015 and her sentence will be followed by 3 years of supervised release.
