Hatteras Inlet, NC – A ferry has run aground in the Hatteras Inlet and crews are working to take passengers off of the vessel.

The ferry ran aground at 11:30 p.m. when it was on the way to Hatteras from Ocracoke’s South Dock terminal.

Coast Guard crews were notified at 2:20 p.m. on Monday that a North Carolina Department of Transportation ferry Roanoke had run aground.

A response boat small crew launched from Station Hatteras Inlet and took passengers off of the ferry to take them to Hatteras Ferry Terminal in Hatteras.

No one was injured and there are no reports of damage or pollution.

Crews are working to move the ferry. Once this is done, the Roanoke will be towed to the Hatteras Terminal to unload the vehicles to inspect them for damage.
