UPDATE:The victim is identified as Corey E. Daniels, 38, of the 100 block of First Street in Yorktown.
Newport News, Virginia – A person was killed when a car crashed into a tree at Warwick Boulevard and Main Street around 2:00am, according to police.
The driver of the 2015 Ford Taurus was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the car.
Police say the car was traveling north on Warwick Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the accident happened.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The accident remains under investigation and the identity of the person has not been released.
