Woman medevaced from cruise ship off Hatteras coast

Cape Hatteras, NC - A 63-year-old woman suffering from chest pains was medevaced Monday from a cruise ship 39 miles northeast of Hatteras.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received a report at 7:30 a.m. from the Norwegian Breakaway.

An HH-60T helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City at 8:13 a.m. to medevac the injured woman. The crew arrived on scene at 8:40 a.m. and transferred the woman, her husband and a nurse to Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head.

The helicopter arrived at the hospital at 9:47 a.m. where the woman was transferred to a waiting EMS crew.
