Newport News, Va. - Police are investigating after a man's body was found in a vacant cul-de-sac in Newport News Monday morning.

Just before 7:00 a.m. officers on a loose dog call in the 200 block of Robinson Drive were approached by a citizen alerted them that there was a dead body in the cul-de-sac off of Newman Drive.

This cul-de-sac is a new housing development and no homes have built yet.

Officers found the body of 66-year-old Welford Basil McElwee, who had trauma to his upper body.
