Virginia Beach, Va. - SPCA leaders say they've gotten reports of someone going door-to-door asking for donations on behalf of the shelter, but they have not told anyone to do that.
The shelter alerted people on Facebook writing, "Please be advised that these people are not affiliated with the VBSPCA, and we would NEVER solicit donations door-to-door."
It's not clear what the person's intentions are. Is he or she trying to help? Is this a potential scam? "I don't know that we'll ever know who the individual is, but hopefully this was out of the goodness of their heart," said Jenny Teed, the director of shelter operations.
So far, no one has come forward with any donations.
Anyone who has had this happen to them is asked to report it to police.
