Hampton, Va. – A man was sent to the hospital after a shooting with “strong drug overtones,” according to police.
Dispatch received a call Wednesday afternoon about a shooting in the 1500 block of Briarfield Road around 1:35 p.m.
Police found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound in his lower torso at the scene. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the victim was approached by a man who pulled out a gun and shot the victim.
The suspect ran away in an unknown direction.
Investigators say the suspect and victim know each other.
