Woman rescued from York river after jumping from Coleman Bridge

York County, Va. – Crews from several agencies helped rescue a woman who jumped from the Coleman Bridge Monday morning.

Personnel from the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety and the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a “water rescue” after the woman jumped and was observed drifting downriver.

She was rescued shortly after 11am and taken to the Yorktown Riverwalk piers where she was transferred to an awaiting York County Fire and Life Safety Medic Unit.

The York County Emergency Communications/911 Center, Coleman Bridge staff, Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, Abingdon Fire/Rescue and the Naval Weapons Station also assisted in the rescue.

The incident is being investigated by law enforcement.
