Virginia Beach, Va.-- Virginia Beach Police headed to Lynnhaven Mall Tuesday morning to share tips with stores and shoppers on how to stop people from getting away with credit card fraud.
Officers, joined by Crime Prevention Dog McGruff, went store to store handing out packets filled with credit card prevention tips. Officials say the main thing that store merchants need to do is ask people for ID when they are purchasing with credit cards. It is something officers say many stores have fallen out of the habit of doing.
"I don't know if it's because they are just trying to hurry through the process with lines being the way they are, but they really need to get back into that habit," said Officer David Nieves.
The event was organized by the Crime Prevention Unit.
