Hampton, Va. – Three people have been taken to the hospital after a Newport News ambulance rear-ended a vehicle, according to police.
It happened at West Mercury Boulevard and Coliseum Drive.
Investigators say a blue Ford Explorer stopped in the left turn lane of West Mercury Boulevard was rear-ended by the ambulance.
Three people who were in the Explorer were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The emergency equipment was not activated at the time because the medic was driving one non-emergent patient.
The driver of the ambulance was issued a summons for following the car too close.
