Local SPCA groups say the idea of pets as presents is growing on them.
The Norfolk SPCA, Chesapeake Animal Services and Virginia Beach SPCA teamed up with Priority Automotive for their "12 Days of Adoption" special, which offers half price adoptions from December 12 to December 23.
Shelters also want to remind potential pet owners that giving a pet as a gift can be a bad idea if the person you're giving it to isn't ready for the responsibility.
