Franklin, Ind. (WHTR) – A woman in Franklin, Indiana got an incredible Christmas present a few days early.

Eva Goeb’s son, Donny, and daughter-in-law, Miranda, live in Hawaii. They both served in the United States Air Force until Miranda retired this past October to start a family.

Eva wasn’t expecting Donny and Miranda home for Christmas, but they decided to come home and surprise her – and they brought along a new addition to the family.

Miranda and Donny started the adoption process in October and found out they were going to be parents on November 12th.

Their newborn daughter, Melissa “Lily” Faith, was born on December 8th.

But they didn’t tell their families.

“We chose not to tell our families due to so many unknowns,” Miranda told WHTR. “We wanted to protect our hearts and theirs. We were taking a huge leap of faith. Once the baby Lily was officially placed with us, to become our daughter, we decided that it was not the type of news to be shared over the phone.”

Eva’s reaction to her new granddaughter is priceless.
