Virginia Beach, Va. - “The front door just opened and then one of them had a gun, one had a knife and they said where's everything,” says James Robinson, a victim.

Two men entered James Robinson`s Virginia Beach home Wednesday night demanding Christmas presents and money.

“At first, when I tussled with the guy, the other guy came at me with a knife,” says Robinson.

He says his roommate got kicked in the face.

James uses a walker and has suffered from heart failure in the past along with other medical problems.

“I'm on a disability check, you know. I got to buy for grandchildren and everything. Sucks out here. I'm just barely making it now and they're gonna come and take some what little bit I have,” says Robinson.

James say as the suspects were leaving his house, his friend pulled up in a Jeep.

She chased them down the street a block and that's when they opened fired on her with her kids in the car.

“I heard shots then I heard screaming,” says Zack Hanes, a neighbor.  He told his family to get on the ground of their home as he tried to figure out what was going on.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

“When they got on the corner is when they fired the shots, and that's where they dropped everything and the neighbors called the police,” says Robinson.

And police were the only ones who came to the rescue.

James says he saw a side of his 5-year-old pit-bull named Rock that he never seen before.

His rescue dog chased after the suspects, possibly biting one of them.

He says Rock is normally sweet and shy.

“He was a pit-bull last night. I took him to Hardee's for breakfast,” says Robinson.

James says the suspects got away with $80 and a pack of cigarettes. They dropped a bunch of electronics down the street after the shots were fired and James got those items back, but a laptop was broken.

Now the search continues for the two men who committed this crime - putting a damper on this man`s Christmas and putting the neighborhood on edge.
