Suffolk, Va. - A Suffolk rescue dog is being credited with making a rescue of her own.
Rebecca Burley and her dog, Roxanne, were on their morning walk in the Burbage Grant neighborhood when the 3-year-old black lab mix started pulling on her leash harder than usual.
Shortly after, a Suffolk police officer stopped and asked if they had seen a woman in a nightgown.
That's when Burley says Roxanne put her nose to the ground and lead her to a muddy area, where she saw a woman lying in a ditch.
"I was shocked, worried definitely. Not knowing what the situation was. How long they have been looking for her. I just expected that maybe we would walk a little further and we would see her walking around in her night gown. Never expected to see her in distress," Burley said.
A nearby couple helped Burley call police.
There is no word on the 69-year-old woman's condition, but police said she was taken to a hospital.
As for Roxanne, she got extra treats for the day.
