Elizabeth City, N.C. – The Coast Guard rescued a 28-year-old man from a container ship 20 miles east of Virginia Beach on Saturday.
Sector Hampton Roads received a report at 10:20 a.m. that a man aboard the Maersk Santana container ship suffered burns on his arms and legs.
A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City launched to medevac the injured man.
The helicopter crew took the victim to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk where the man was transferred to emergency personnel .
The victim was last reported in stable condition.
