Powerball has set another record for the biggest jackpot ever.
Nearly 500,000 winning tickets bought in Virginia won prizes in Saturday’s drawing – including one ticket that’s now worth $1 million.
That ticket was bought by Matthew Brewer at the Convenience on the Go store at 1441 Holland Road in Suffolk.
“It would have been nice to win the whole thing, but I’m not going to argue with this!” he said.
The biggest winning jackpot was in 2012 with a MegaMillions game that was worth $656 million.
The next drawing is Wednesday, January 13th. Those planning to get in on the action should know the odds of winning are 1 in 292 million.
The current jackpot has been growing since November 7. It first broke into the top 10 largest jackpots ranking last weekend, when it hit $400 million. Since then ticket sales have only taken off.
Powerball is sold in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
