Newport News, Va. - A father wants his daughter’s killer captured.

The 25-year-old mom was gunned down with her children and mom nearby in Newport News on January 4th.

Newport News Police said they think Anthony Smith kicked down DaShanika Sherrod’s door and shot and killed her.

The Medical Examiner told NewsChannel 3 on Tuesday that she died as a result of gunshot wounds to her head.

“I want someone to tell me where this guy is. It was senseless what he's done,” said Alexander.

He said his daughter dated him off and on for about four years

NewsChannel 3 found court documents that show Sherrod got an emergency protective order days before she was killed.

She wrote that he made threats towards her, kicked her dishwasher, burned pictures in the kitchen sink and vandalized end tables. Then 9 days later she was dead.

Alexander said he told her to leave Smith and stay away from him. He said she was working to try and get rid of him.

“It's hard when your child is in a relationship and you know it is wrong for them,” said Alexander.

Police said he is dangerous and has no regard for life.

They said they’ve received some tips, but so far he has not been arrested.

“This guy has been hurting a lot of people and it doesn't make any sense that he still running around here,” said Alexander.

Police have warrants on file for Anthony Mark Smith, Jr. for first degree murder, possession of firearm by a felon, burglary and use of firearm in the commission of a felony.

Authorities say Smith and the victim were a couple and recently broke up.

The family has set up a go fund me account to help pay for Sherrod’s funeral expenses.
