WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - A two-night stay at a Williamsburg Travelodge took a nasty turn for one family.

Elizabeth Wilcox is the person behind this cell phone video.

She says she was staying at the Travelodge over the weekend, which is off of Richmond Road in Williamsburg with her fiancé and two young daughters.

She says they did not notice anything wrong with the room the first night, but Saturday night, they noticed some rashes and bug bites on their daughters.

"So immediately I flip the mattress just to see all the bed bugs crawling everywhere, there's so many of them the kids are scratching their legs," says Wilcox. "The mattress cover had a zip on it but there were holes covering it so the bed bugs were in the box spring."

NewsChannel 3 spoke with a manager at the Travelodge. He told us they do not have a bed bug problem, and he looked at the room himself and did not see any issues.

The manager says he is calling their pest control company tomorrow and plan to have them come out and take a look at the room.

He also showed us an invoice for $92 to refund the family.

"He said we'll refund it and we still haven't gotten it on our bank card, still have yet to receive it," says Wilcox.

Wilcox and her fiancé say they are hoping the holiday weekend is the reason for the delay in getting the refund.

In the meantime, she says they plan to continue to show their video so the Travelodge does something about it and so others are aware.

"It's really scary our children are afraid to go to bed," says Wilcox. "We want to prevent other families from this happening to them. In the summertime, people come here, people stay here."
