Attic fire damages home in Norfolk

Norfolk, VA.- Norfolk Fire crews worked to put out a small attic fire early Tuesday morning.

Crews were called to a home on Westminster Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Firefighters reported smoke coming from the attice of a two story home. Investigators say crews found a small fire inside the attic and quickly put it out.

Investigators say insulation in the attic was burned in the fire and some other materials that had to be removed.

Upon investigation, crews found the fire was electrical in nature. Dominion power was notified to turn off power to the home. Due to fire damage, investigators say the home can not be occupied.

One person was inside when the fire started but made it out safe.
