Health company Garden of Life has recalled its RAW Meal Organic Shake & Meal products available in chocolate, original, vanilla, and vanilla chai after they were linked to a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Virchow infections.
The company voluntarily recalled the products on January 29.
Eleven people have been infected with the salmonella strain as of February 1, 2016. Ten of the people infected reported to eating Garden of Life RAW Meal powdered supplements or meal replacement powders in the week before they became ill.
The number of ill people identified in each state includes Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah and Wisconsin.
People reported illnesses from December 5, 2015, to January 21, 2016. One reported being hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.
