Driver issued summons after slamming into vehicle stopped at red light in Newport News

Newport News, Va. – Two drivers were hurt and one was issued a summons after a two-vehicle crash in Newport News on Thursday night.

Police say a 2006 Hyundai failed to stop at the red light and slammed into a 2004 Mazda at Jefferson Avenue and Bland Boulevard.

When police arrived, they found several lanes blocked in the area.

Both drivers were transported  with non-life threatening injuries.

The Hyundai driver was issued a summons for reckless driving.

All roadways reopened at 6:30 p.m.
