Camden County man dies after being burned in explosion

Update: Jim Brincefield died from his injuries Saturday night, according to Sheriff Tony Perry with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.

Camden County, N.C. –  A man from Camden County was airlifted to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital on Friday afternoon, after he was burned from a barrel explosion in his backyard.

According to Camden County Sheriff’s Office they responded to an emergency in the 200 block of Pinch Gut Road around 2:30 p.m.

When they arrived they found Capt. Jim Brincefield in the house showering, trying to cool the burns.

Brincefield was airlifted by Nightingale to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

75 percent of Brincefield’s body was covered with burns.
