Hampton, Va. – Bethel High School dismissed students early Tuesday after receiving a bomb threat.

Hampton Police say nothing was found in the school. Buses are beginning normal routes.

Parents and guardians can still pick up their children at First Friends Church on 1062 Big Bethel Road.

School officials are working with Hampton Fire and Police officials to search the building and implement proper procedures.

The school’s normal dismissal time is 3:09 p.m.

The school is evacuated as a safety precaution. Students who drive or walk were dismissed around 2:20 p.m.

“Once we began to evacuate and it was shared with us that it might be some time before the students could return to the building, we dismissed drivers and walkers,” said Diana Gulotta, Hampton City School Director of Public Relations.
