Marijuana, pills found in student’s car during unannounced sweep at Gloucester High School

Gloucester County, Va. – The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office conducted an unannounced sweep for illegal contraband at Gloucester High School on Monday, February 22nd.

Deputies, along with K9 deputy “Rexi,” searched the school’s student parking lot and the 250 lockers within the school.

During the sweep of the student parking lot, Rexi alerted on a vehicle. Inside the vehicle, deputies discovered six individual sandwich-style bags of marijuana, 20 pills described by the suspect as Adderall, a small bag of marijuana seeds, and a smoking device.

As a result of the findings, a 17-year-old student was questioned and charges are currently pending.

No further contraband was found.

The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office says still they will continue to work with local schools to conduct unannounced inspections of property in order to eliminate contraband within schools.
