Newport News, Va. – Newport News officials received a call just after 1:30a.m. about an accident on 41st Street and Jefferson Avenue.
It involved Edward Lee Brown, 28, of Portsmouth who was driving north on Jefferson Avenue, where he crashed into a pole.
Brown was not wearing his seatbelt during the crash, and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It is unclear if alcohol played a role in this accident, but the investigation is still ongoing.
